Small Waste-Plastic Shredder Machine

Objective

Design and build a shredder for plastic bottles and sheets, and measure throughput, power use and shred size.

What you will build

A hopper, a shaft with cutter blades and fixed blades, a frame, a motor with belt or gear reduction, and a safety guard.

What you will learn

Machine design (shafts, bearings, belts), fabrication and recycling equipment.

Tools and notes

CAD and Excel for calculations. Needs lathe, welding and cutting. Strong safety guards are a must.
