Keep the speed steady for a household-type motor and measure speed drop with and without feedback.
A triac phase-angle controller with a tacho or back-EMF feedback that keeps the speed steady under varying load for a universal motor.
Triac control, feedback loops and the behaviour of a universal motor.
Triac, optocoupler zero-cross circuit, Arduino, tachometer or back-EMF sensing, power meter. Mains supply is used, so build in an enclosure with isolation and a fuse.
