Smart Prepaid Energy Meter with Mobile Recharge

Objective

Build a prepaid meter and test its accuracy, billing and disconnection logic.

What you will build

An energy meter that works on balance: a user recharges from a phone, the meter deducts units, warns on low balance and disconnects with a relay when the balance ends.

• Energy accuracy vs a reference meter at 3 loads
• Balance deduction correctness
• Reconnection after recharge
• And behaviour on power cut and restart

What you will learn

Energy metering, secure recharge flow, non-volatile storage and tariff logic.

Tools and notes

ESP32, PZEM-004T or ADE7753, relay, EEPROM or flash, Firebase or MQTT backend, phone app. Mains is involved, so use a fused and enclosed test box.
