Grid-Tie Inverter Anti-Islanding Detection Model

Power Electronics / GridHard

Approx. component budget: Rs. 6,000 - 10,000

Objective

Check how quickly and reliably the inverter detects loss of the grid and stops feeding the load.

What you will build

A low-power inverter model connected to a grid-simulating source and a local load, with a detection algorithm that disconnects when the grid is lost.

Results you can expect

What you will learn

Grid codes, islanding risk, frequency and voltage windows, and the safety reason for anti-islanding.

Tools and notes

Microinverter kit or SPWM inverter, variac or isolation transformer, ESP32/STM32, oscilloscope. Never connect to the real grid; use an isolated lab source.
