Objective

Build a bench load and use it to test power supplies, batteries and solar panels in constant current, constant voltage and constant power modes.

What you will build

A MOSFET-based active load on a heat sink with a fan, a shunt and a voltage divider, an op-amp or microcontroller loop for constant current, voltage and power modes, and a display.

Results you can expect

What you will learn

Test equipment design, analog feedback and thermal management, the core of any power test lab.

Tools and notes

Arduino/STM32, MOSFETs, shunt, heat sink and fan, DAC, Excel. Limit power to what the heat sink can handle, and do not touch the sink while testing.
