Single-Phase Transformer Test Kit: Efficiency and Regulation with Data Logging

Objective

Carry out OC and SC tests and a direct load test automatically and compare efficiency and regulation from both methods.

What you will build

A small step-down transformer with open-circuit and short-circuit test connections, a variable supply, current and voltage sensors, a resistive load bank and a microcontroller logger.

Transformer theory and testing, equivalent circuits and data logging, a typical test-lab task.

Tools and notes

Arduino/ESP32, sensors, variac and load bank (college lab), Excel. Connects to mains, so use an enclosed box, fuse and supervision.
