Build an inverter and measure its output waveform quality, efficiency and voltage regulation at different loads.
A 12 V to 230 V inverter with an H-bridge of MOSFETs, a microcontroller generating SPWM, a gate-driver stage, a step-up transformer and an LC output filter.
Switching converters, PWM, filter design and transformer use, the basics of UPS and solar inverter design.
Oscilloscope (college lab), Arduino/STM32, MOSFET driver ICs, Excel. Works with mains-level voltage on the output, so use insulated enclosures, an isolating transformer for testing and a fuse on the battery.
