Objective

Learn how an operating system starts processes and connects them.

A command-line shell that runs programs, supports pipes, input and output redirection, background jobs, built-in commands and command history.

fork, exec, wait, pipes, file descriptors, signals, and process groups.

C, Linux or WSL, GCC, GDB, Valgrind. Test inside a safe user account or a virtual machine.

Built and tested Custom Unix Shell in C; objective: learn how an operating system starts processes and connects them.
Measured and analysed correct behaviour on 25 test command lines compared with bash and no zombie processes; wrote the report and presented the results in a viva. Add your own numbers: [x].
