Online Voting System with OTP and a Tamper-Evident Audit Log

Objective

Show how to make an election system where double voting is blocked and any change to past records can be detected.

What you will build

A voting site for college or society elections with OTP login, one vote per voter, a hash-chained audit log and live result tallies after closing.

Results you can expect

• Zero duplicate votes in a 500-vote simulation
• Tamper test where an edited record is detected
• OTP success and expiry behaviour
• And a verifiable final count

What you will learn

Authentication, hash chains, vote privacy vs auditability, threat modelling, and where such systems can still fail.

Tools and notes

Django or Node.js, PostgreSQL, SHA-256 hash chaining, email OTP. Use it only for small mock elections and not for any official election.
