Furniture Strength Test Rig (Chair Static and Cyclic Load)

Objective

Test chairs for seat static load, back static load and cyclic seat load, and see how joints and materials affect strength.

What you will build

A rigid frame with a loading ram, a seat-load pad, a back-load arrangement, a load cell, a cycle counter and a motor-crank or cylinder drive.

Results you can expect

• Load vs deflection
• Permanent set after load
• Number of cycles survived
• Failure points and joint comparison

What you will learn

Furniture testing, loads and joints, product testing methods and basic test-report writing.

Tools and notes

Load cell, counter or Arduino, Excel. Test only up to the planned loads and keep clear while loading. Simplified methods, not a certified test.
