Approx. component budget: Rs. 4,000 - 8,000 + testing
Study how each heat treatment changes hardness, tensile strength and microstructure.
Specimens of medium-carbon steel (EN8 or similar) annealed, normalised, quenched in water or oil, and tempered in a workshop or small muffle furnace.
Heat treatment of steel, phase changes, hardness testing and material selection.
Furnace, hardness tester and UTM (college or outside lab, may cost extra). Use heat-proof gloves, tongs and eye protection.
