Objective

Compare corrosion on bare, painted, zinc-plated and primer-coated steel plates over several days of salt spray.

What you will build

A closed plastic chamber with a salt-solution reservoir, air pump and spray nozzle, specimen racks, a drain, and coated and uncoated steel plates.

Corrosion mechanisms, protective coatings, accelerated testing, and why products need coating tests.

Tools and notes

Precision balance, camera, Excel. A simplified test, not a certified one. Use gloves and ventilation, and a leak-proof tray under the chamber.
