Measure the friction coefficient and wear rate of different materials (brass, aluminium, polymer, steel) sliding on a steel disc at different loads and speeds.
A motor-driven disc with a pin holder, a dead-weight loading arm, a load cell for friction force, speed control and a wear-measuring gauge.
Tribology, friction, wear mechanisms and lubricants, used in bearings, brakes and engines.
Load cell + HX711, tachometer, precision balance (0.001 g), Excel. Guard the rotating disc and keep wear debris under control.
