Thermal / RenewableEasy-Medium

Approx. component budget: Rs. 4,000 - 8,000

Diagram of Single-Slope Solar Still with Wick and Reflector
Diagram (illustration, not to scale)

Objective

Measure how much clean water the still gives per day and how the wick, water depth and reflector change the output.

What you will build

A glass-covered still with a blackened basin, a wick or fin plate, an optional mirror reflector, a collecting channel and a measuring jar, next to a plain still for comparison.

Results you can expect

What you will learn

Evaporation and condensation, solar heat gain, water treatment, and a low-cost solution for rural areas.

Tools and notes

Thermometers, measuring jar, TDS meter, Excel. Test on several sunny days. Use food-grade materials if the water will be used.

Resume points from this project

Replace [x] with your own measured results. Write only what you really did.
