Objective

Reduce mass while keeping comparable stiffness and strength, and compare FEA predictions with test results.

What you will build

Design a load-carrying bracket in CAD, run topology optimisation (Fusion 360/Ansys/SolidWorks), print the original and optimised versions (PETG/Nylon) and load-test both.

Results you can expect

What you will learn

FEA, design for additive manufacturing and testing. Directly relevant to design and CAE jobs.

Tools and notes

Needs access to a 3D printer and a testing set-up (UTM or simple loading rig). Confirm this before choosing.
