Objective

Automate a sorting process and measure its speed, accuracy and fault handling.

What you will build

A conveyor with sensors that detect objects by size or colour and a PLC that pushes them into separate bins and counts them.

• Jam detection response time
• And a ladder diagram with an emergency-stop sequence

What you will learn

Ladder logic, sensors and actuators, safety interlocks and process timing.

Tools and notes

PLC (Siemens, Delta or Allen-Bradley trainer or an open-source OpenPLC board), proximity and colour sensors, DC motor. Include an emergency stop and cover moving parts.
