Objective

Measure the torque-speed curve of a stepper at different microstep settings and supply voltages, and find where steps are lost.

What you will build

A NEMA 17 stepper motor, a driver with selectable microstepping, a microcontroller with an acceleration ramp, a brake or load arrangement and a current sensor.

Results you can expect

What you will learn

Stepper operation, current control and acceleration limits, widely used in CNC, 3D printers and automation.

Tools and notes

Arduino, driver module, tachometer or encoder, spring balance, Excel. Do not disconnect the motor while it is powered.

Resume points from this project

Replace [x] with your own measured results. Write only what you really did.
