Offline Hindi and English Voice Assistant

Objective

Build a private assistant that runs on a laptop or Raspberry Pi and measure how well it understands Indian accents.

What you will build

A voice assistant that understands simple commands in Hindi and English such as time, notes, music and device control, and works without internet.

Results you can expect

• Word error rate on 100 recorded commands
• Command success rate
• Response time
• Comparison of 2 speech models
• And accuracy in a noisy room

What you will learn

Speech recognition, intent detection, text-to-speech, and limits of on-device models.

Tools and notes

Python, Vosk or Whisper (small), PyAudio, rule-based or small ML intent classifier, pyttsx3. Mention that always-on microphones need clear user consent.
