Zero-Knowledge Password Manager with AES-GCM Encryption

Objective

Build a vault in which even the server owner cannot read the passwords, and prove it with tests.

What you will build

A password manager where the master password never leaves the user's device, all entries are encrypted in the browser, and the server stores only encrypted data.

Results you can expect

• Encryption and decryption correctness tests
• Key derivation time with PBKDF2 or Argon2
• A test showing the database holds only ciphertext
• And a password strength and breach check using k-anonymity

What you will learn

Symmetric encryption, key derivation, salts and nonces, threat modelling, and common crypto mistakes.

Tools and notes

Web Crypto API or Python cryptography library, Argon2, Node.js, SQLite. Never write your own cipher; use trusted libraries only.
